Islay was reached the fast way: flying in, via Heathrow and Glasgow, from where Islay is served with a Saab 340 turboprop. Walking along the airport perimeter, I soon hit the beach, for a straight walk to Kintra campsite. I had been warned by the people of Kintra farm that walking from the airport would be very long and unfeasible, but it was just three miles! The campsite, in the dunes near the beach, and operated by Kintra farm was well patronized, as it is one of only few official campsites on the island. |
