The summer of 2008 brought me to Norway for the NORDIC DISCOVERY exercise, crossing the Hardangervidda plateau from north to south, Finse to Haukeliseter, with accomodation both wildcamping and using DNT facilities. With 9,5 days to cover a mere 133 km, daily distances were limited, but the terrain was nevertheless sometimes demanding and above the landscape was varied and magnificent. The large, treeless extent of the Hardangervidda and its lakes, rivers, and mountains provide a wonderful environment for remote walking.
