Taking the 10:33 from Oslo to Finse,
a nice 5 hour train ride to the highest station at 1222m, good to start
walking around 16:00. The surroundings of Finse are very busy, though
mostly with local daytrippers, and once a bit away from the town the
path becomes very quiet. Just a few hours walk today, covering 8,8km,
along the east side of the Hardangerjøkul,
but already getting to know the typicalities of Norwegian walking:
from cairn to cairn, crossing rickety suspension bridges and patches
of snow. I pitch at a nice place, 1389m elevation, and spend some time
systemizing the gear for the rest of the trip. |
