The summer 2009 exercise ARCTIC ADVANCE was planned in the north of Norway: Finnmark. A province one-and-a-half times as big as Belgium with only 73,000 inhabitants! A first trip over the central plain, the Finnmarksvidda from Alta to Karasjok. After a few days there further north for a trip to the Nordkinn, the northernmost point of mainland Europe. In total, 315 km have been marched! FinnmarksviddaPhoto AlbumAll photos © LHOON available under Creative Commons license Maps © Ascent ( with the addition of original GPS tracks) |
