Leisurely stroll to varying and exciting Highland scenery under scorching summer heat.
Sunday July 20
Departure from Fort William with the 1140 as far as Rannoch station, and soon on the parallel track up the hill side as far as the ruins of Corrour Old Lodge. The location is magnificent, one would ask why it ever was abandoned.
Monday July 21
A nice morning and a late start around 1100! First a rather bad path on to Loch Ossian, and then the improved track down to Loch Treig, with works under way for new small hydro schemes. Near Loch Treig I find the perfect pitch, as if the place was laid out for it. The railway line is high above, and I see the sleeper and a special pass.
Tuesday July 22
Another long morning on a scorching day, along Loch Treig to Creaguineach and then up the Lairig Leacach. The heat makes the march rather slow with frequent stops at the burns. Ending the day at Lairig Leacach bothy
Wednesday July 23
No sleep-out today but an early start since the bus in Spean Bridge does not wait. Down the Lairig, and the last few miles along the small road to Spean Bridge, just in time for a few refreshing pints before the bus!
