Sutherland Sands 2011

One more day at Durness, time for a local walk of sixteen miles: first to Faraid Head through the dunes, returning via the splendid Balnakeil beach, the ruined church and the weird buildings of the craft village. Further on to Smoo Cave, and after dinner a last walk a few miles into the hills.

Back the next day, bus to Lairg station and on by train, which was not wholly uneventful since I misplaced my wallet on the Lairg bus, not noticing it until Inverness. Thanks to the bus company I managed to get it back in the evening though!
