The following morning: done with the
nice weather! It has rained considerably and a thick fog hangs on
the hills: nothing to see above 1500 feet. Nevertheless I must go on:
crossing the causeway between Fionn Loch and Dubh Loch to Carnmore,
and then steep up to Lochan Feith Mhic-illean. Then an as steep descent
to the Gleann after Muice to the Lacharantivore cottage. Two considerable
rivers are tobe crossed: the Abhainn Gleann after Muice and the Abhainn
Strath after Sealga, with there between a very boggy area! It succeeds
with minimal wet feet, and this way I reach the Shenavall bothy.
Here it is very busy: in a span of just a few minutes, not
less than seven walkers pass through! I have a short break,
look at how they struggle through the bog. The fog makes that not much
of the splendid panorama of the hills around can be seen. Further on
and steep up again! Eventually I pitch on the banks of the Allt Lochan
after Bradhan (NH087816), elevation 1300 ft, after 10,6 miles. That
evening, two members of the mountain rescue services pass by, searching
a missing walker. Probably it was the man who I saw passing the night
before near Fionn Loch. |
