Rain all night long, but by the morning it has been cleared. I sent some maps I don't longer need home in the post office, and get on the road, up to the hamlet of Saval and then through the forest, a bit on the A836 road, and then the track to Dalnessie, a "village" consisting in a farm, a barn and a holiday cottage. Beyond it, it's rough tracks and bad paths, in the Sutherlandwilderness! No more high mountains, here, but hillocks with boggy grassland extending in all directions. On the map this is called forest, but trees are nowhere to be seen. I proceed up to a point along the Allt Gobhlach (NC630187), a quiet place in the middle of nowhere, with only a herd of deer disturbing the solitude. A good place to pitch, bake some oatcakes and drink some whisky! Today covered 12,8 miles. 340
