Today away from civilization and into the wilderness of the barren north point of Islay. Climbing the grassy slopes of Sgarbh Breac, reaching the highest point of the walk at just 200 metres, and descending west towards the characteristic knoll of Mala Bholsa. Now following the coast the high way, along the raised beaches, which is not always easy since they can be cut by deep ravines. The views are spectacular though, and the coastlines get a bit smoother by the time I reach the old settlement of Doodilbeg, having covered 7,5 miles. |
