Peaty Spirit 2010

The weekend is over, time to head for a distillery again. Among golden fields of barley I reach Kilchoman where I enjoy a 3 year old malt (older is not available since the distillery is quite recent venture!). Via the ruin of Kilchoman church and the war memorial on to the seaside with the magnificent beach of Machir bay.

I have to negotiate a passage past a herd of Highland cattle to reach Kilchiaran, and then it is just over the hill to get to Port Charlotte where I book into the youth hostel. An excellent dinner of local scallops in the pub, with a few pints of Islay real ale close this enjoyable day of 10 mile walking.
