Walking south now, and a good climb out of the valley to get to the Hardangervidda plateau proper. I am passed and re-pass some of the other walkers staying at Kjeldebu, a couple with a dog heading for Eidfjord and a woman from Hønefoss. Just outside Dyranut, I meet a 90 year old Parisian making a leisurely stroll. Arriving at Dyranut around lunchtime, I have a drink with the Hønefoss woman who had left her car there, and continue south towards Nybu city and the Bjoreio valley. The going becomes easier now, a wide flat plain with few features, this is the real Vidda! I find a nice pitch after 17,5 km walk, a good place to sit out with the feet in the burn until upcoming insects make me hide behind the fly gauze. |   |
